FAQs

Why should I buy a BadRock

The concept behind BadRock Rifles is to get an affordable, precision rifle, in the hands of shooters to bridge the gap between typical box store and high-end custom rifles.

BadRock Rifles is a culmination of decades in pursuing ultimate rifle accuracy and innovation in manufacturing. Experience, dedication, and a unique approach allow us to create the BadRock Rifle with quality never-before seen, in this price range.

Can I order a custom option?

To keep the price as low as it is, BadRock kept options to a minimum. Available options are listed on the website. There are, however, many add-on accessories available for the rifles.

Do they come in different colors?

Black is the only color option for the chassis. The action and barrel are matte stainless finish.

Can I get a different caliber?

BadRock reviews caliber selection as new cartridges are released. We chamber rifles or barreled actions in calibers listed on our website.

Who makes the barrel?

BadRock uses barrels from several high-end barrel makers. We maintain this ability, so that we can always continue to build and ship rifles. Each rifle is test fired and meets our strict standards.

Is there an accuracy guarantee?

No. There are too many variables when it comes to printing groups on paper, for us to guarantee what a shooter can do with their; scope, ammo, rest, conditions, and skillset for BadRock to guarantee “accuracy”. Every rifle is tested with factory ammunition and will not ship, unless it meets our standards.

What is the lead time for a rifle or barreled action?

Lead time can vary due to fluctuations in demand. Please call the office at (406) 897-2776 or email sales@badrockrifles.com for current information.

Do BadRock rifles use a Defiance action?

The BadRock bolt actions are designed and manufactured by Defiance Machine.

Is the action of lesser quality than other Defiance actions?

Absolutely not! The BadRock rifle actions are held to the same standards as all Defiance actions. They are produced on the, most sophisticated, technologically advanced CNC machines available.

Do they meet the PRS production class guidelines?

Yes. Currently, the BadRock South Fork is approved by the Precision Rifle Series as a Production Class Rifle. Check the PRS website for up-to-date guidelines before purchasing.

Does the South Fork meet NRL Hunter Factory rifle, 12# open class, or 16# open class guidelines?

The BadRock rifles do not currently meet NRL Hunter “Factory” rifle guidelines.

A BadRock South Fork in 6.5 Creedmoor weighs approximately 12 pounds. It will not make the 12# class, but it is possible to make the 16# class with specific scopes and bipods.

What stocks can I use with this barreled action?

BadRock South Fork actions are based on Remington 700 footprints and can fit in stocks inlet for Remington 700 and Defiance actions of the same length.  (minor modifications may be necessary)

  • Our Medium length (.308, 6.5 Creedmoor, etc.) is the same basic footprint as a Remington 700 Short Action.
  • Our Long length (300 PRC) is the same basic footprint as a Remington 700 Long Action.
  • Our XM length (6.5 PRC) is a proprietary intermediate length that is .250” longer than our Medium length.
    • Many stock and chassis manufacturers inlet for this length.  (Manners, McMillan, AG Composite, MDT, MPA)

The barrel contour is “Heavy Varmint”.

The bolt stop is rotated up to clear most stocks inlet for Remington 700.

The handle is designed to clear most stocks inlet for Remington 700

The recoil lug is .250” thick (Remington factory lug is .187”)

  • Most stocks will accommodate this lug, but modifications may be necessary

Does BadRock offer re-barreling?

Yes.  BadRock will re-barrel your South Fork Rifle or Barreled Action with the same caliber or a different caliber if it is currently offered and compatible with your action.

Price is $650.00

  • Includes a match grade stainless steel barrel; crowned, threaded muzzle (5/8-24), coned breech, and chambered on a high-precision CNC lathe using the very best machining practices.
  • New bolt may be necessary for caliber change and adds $275.00 to the cost.
    • Extra bolts come complete with sliding plate extractor, bolt flutes, bolt handle and firing pin assembly.

You will need to send your bolt and receiver, complete action, barreled action, or complete rifle to BadRock Rifles for re-barreling.

A re-barreled South Fork rifle will remain approved for “Production Class” in the Precision Rifle Series.  Check current PRS regulations.

What if I want to re-barrel to a different cartridge (caliber)?

.308 Winchester, 6mm Creedmoor, and 6.5 Creedmoor could be switched with just a new barrel

6mm ARC and .223 Remington could switch to or from the cartridges above, but would require a new bolt ($275.00)

  • Extra bolts come complete with sliding plate extractor, bolt flutes, bolt handle and firing pin assembly.

6.5 PRC and 300 PRC are currently the only cartridges offered in their respective action length and bolt face diameter, so switching cartridges is not an option
